Dutch Packaging Waste Fund Awards 2023

The Dutch Packaging Waste Fund has the ambition to further close the packaging chain: to recycle more and more packaging waste into raw materials for new products and packaging. The Waste Fund takes up this challenge with the other parties in the chain: the business community, municipalities, sorters and recyclers. The focus is on sustainable packaging, proper collection, preventing litter, innovation in sorting and recycling and the application of recycled material.

Last year, striking examples to close the packaging chain were put in the spotlight and rewarded during the Dutch Packaging Waste Fund Awards 2022. This year, the Awards will again be presented in various categories, because good initiatives and collaborations remain badly needed to further develop packaging recycling and achieve the recycling targets. The Dutch Packaging Waste Fund organises the Awards together with Nederland Schoon, Nedvang, the Netherlands Institute for Sustainable Packaging (KIDV) and Statiegeld Nederland.

This year there are the following categories:

Packaging Industry

• Award for the most innovative application of recyclate in packaging
• Award for the best recyclable packaging
• Award for the best reusable packaging
• Award for the best 'rethink' packaging

Municipalities

• Award for a proven good working collection system for all packaging streams, resulting in high quality and quantity of collected material
• Award for effective (communication) campaign with residents on waste collection
• Award for municipalities and companies with the best collaboration initiative to reduce litter

Sorters and recyclers

• Award for the best innovation in sorting and/or recycling packaging waste

Public Award

• Award for the best packaging innovation of the past year

The awards ceremony will be on Thursday afternoon, 12 October 2023. This event offers you an excellent opportunity to meet colleagues from the packaging industry, as well as from municipalities, sorters and recyclers.
