KIDV continues as Verpact

Publication date: November 6, 2025

In July of this year, it was announced that the brand name Kennisinstituut Duurzaam Verpakken (KIDV) would be discontinued and its activities would be transferred to the umbrella brand Verpact. Work is currently underway on the technical integration and implementation of this change. In the near future, all KIDV initiatives, campaigns and services will be transferred to Verpact and moved to verpact.nl. Until then, this site will remain available as a source of information. Tools such as the Recyclecheck and the Sustainable Packaging Compass will also remain accessible.

KIDV continues as Verpact

The KIDV team has become part of Verpact's Strategy, Knowledge and Innovation department. This department is responsible for developing and implementing Verpact's strategy by working programmatically on topics that need to be accelerated or deepened. This is done by carrying out projects, sharing knowledge, stimulating innovation and ensuring coordination within the chain.

Lysanne van der Lem joined Verpact as Head of Knowledge on 1 June 2025. Before joining us, Lysanne was head of the Sustainability Office at Utrecht University, where she worked with her team and many others to make the university more sustainable. Lysanne also worked in the food industry for many years, for Danone Nutrica and the FNLI.

Under the leadership of Lysanne van der Lem (see above), the team remains committed to supporting companies in making informed and realistic choices regarding materials, packaging and combinations thereof. This is achieved through applicable knowledge, practical tools, training and strategic insight. The objectivity of the knowledge shared is guaranteed by Verpact's Board of Independent Experts. With the integration, the Board's focus has been broadened to encompass the entire Verpact organisation and thus all aspects of the chain.

The fact that the KIDV is now an integral part of Verpact offers opportunities and possibilities to retrieve and share knowledge more quickly, both with other departments within the organisation (such as operations and monitoring) and with external stakeholders, such as brand owners, retailers, packaging and material suppliers, sorters, recyclers, (semi) government bodies and knowledge institutions. Verpact wants to use this to respond more quickly and ensure that external stakeholders are involved and supported more effectively.
