Eosta’s automatically-closing box for chicory

Eosta commissioned Smart Packaging Solutions to develop a reclosable box for chicory. The shelf life of chicory is reduced by light and temperature. Light causes the chicory to turn green. Once chicory turns green, it can no longer be sold, because consumers no longer regard it as fresh. Supermarkets often use plastic sheets to prevent the chicory turning green. Often, these sheets do not remain in place when customers handle the chicory. The new box is equipped with a lid that closes automatically. This extends the shelf life of the chicory. An explanation on the box informs consumers that the lid closes and what the reason is.
