Lapack Trade & Recycling makes pallets from old and new wood
Publication date: January 12, 2011
Organisation: LAPACK TRADE & RECYCLING
Wood from old and broken pallets is collected by the producer and used for the production of new pallets.
Every year, Lapack Trade & Recycling saves 280,000 kg of new wood by using “waste wood.” The organisation wants to use the available resources in a sustainable manner (PEFC and FSC). When delivering “new” standard and custom-made pallets to clients, the organisation takes back any broken and old pallets in exchange for a fee. In the past, clients paid their waste collector to dispose of this material. This new method also cuts down on the transport of new raw materials. Parts of the old and broken pallets are used for the production of new pallets, which also reduces the risk of wood ending up as litter.
